Summer Reading Fun

If it's summer, it must be time for Summer Reading Camps!

All across the country, Frontier College Summer Reading Camps are taking--or have already taken--place. Counsellors have been trained, activities and guest speakers have been planned, and kids are getting involved in arts and crafts, cooking, storytime, games, and field trips. Thanks to all of the host communities, camp counsellors, campers, families, and supporters!

For the EIGHTH year, Nooaitch Indian Band has invited Frontier College Summer Literacy Camps into their community. We're so grateful to work with this community to develop fun, community-led camps. The photo above shows the amazing team of Literacy Camp counsellors!

The Summer Literacy Camps in Nunavik wrapped up with a bang! Reading, planting, baking, art, science experiments and even origami were at the heart of this fun-filled summer of learning. Thank you to Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, Makivik Corporation and our wonderful counsellors for a job well done!

We are in the last week of Summer Literacy Programming in Eeyou Istchee. Our counsellors have been working with the children and youth to prevent summer learning loss through reading, learning games, and multidisciplinary activities such as gardening and music. Staff incorportated Cree culture such as making bannock on a stick and collaborated with many community partners. We wish to thank the Cree School Board for their steadfast support for this program.
