Black History Month 2022

The theme for Black History Month 2022 is February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day.

Black History Month is a time for celebration, reflection, and action. Throughout the month, we will recognize and honour the legacy and contributions of Black Canadians, including authors, entrepreneurs, artists, volunteers, and trailblazers.

Our role at Frontier College is to provide support, resources, and tutoring for people who are experiencing low literacy. While we believe that potential is evenly distributed, our work has shown us that opportunity is not, and that barriers created by systemic racism play a role in keeping people further away from opportunity. We believe that people, whether they be Indigenous, Black, or indeed any racialized group, should enjoy equality of opportunity and be free from judgement and violence.
Join us in celebrating Mélanie Valcin, Vice President of Programs and Impact at Frontier College. Mélanie is an honouree of CBC Quebec's Black Changemakers. The 28 Changemakers were selected from more than 200 nominations submitted from across Quebec.

Visit this page throughout the month for more stories and photos or check out our social media channels for more.
