Last summer, Brynnelea accompanied her grandmother when she took a therapy dog to Books and Breakfast in London, ON, a long-running program that Frontier College runs in partnership with LUSO Community Services and the London Public Library. This program has been a partnership for many years. During her visit, Brynnelea decided that for her next birthday, she wanted to have her friends donate to Frontier College. You read correctly: Instead of receiving birthday gifts, the five-year-old wanted other to children to benefit from her friend's generosity.
Brynnelea, her mom, and grandmother met with Janine, Regional Coordinator of Southwestern Ontario, and donated $100 to Frontier College. This community spirit is exactly what Family Literacy Day encourages. This whole family was involved in helping to promote literacy in their community and proves that even the youngest members of society understand the importance of reading -- and giving!
Thank you to Brynnelea and her family for your thoughtful gift.
