Today, we stand with Black, Indigenous and racialized colleagues, learners, and communities to say that systemic racism must be eradicated and it will never be tolerated at Frontier College. And while much of the current media focus is on the situation in the US, we recognize that systemic racism exists in Canada too.
Our role at Frontier College is to provide support, resources, and tutoring for people who are experiencing low literacy. While we believe that potential is evenly distributed, our work has shown us that opportunity is not, and that barriers created by systemic racism play a role in keeping people further away from opportunity.
Frontier College values mutual respect and collaboration in all our relationships and activities. We believe that everyone has the right to learn. Further, we believe that people, whether they be Indigenous, Black, or indeed any racialized group, should enjoy equality of opportunity and be free from judgement and violence.
We remain committed to these principles and, working with others, to being part of the solution.
