Since 2005, Frontier College has been working closely with First Nations and Inuit communities of Northern Quebec to offer literacy programming for children, youth and adults in their communities. These educational activities are based on Frontier College models adapted to the language, culture, traditions and context of the community. Our student-centered approach focuses on materials and learning approaches that are relevant and that reflect the diversity and traditions of groups that we work with.
The following programs are currently offered in Northern Quebec: summer literacy camps, community literacy catalyst programs, and the math tutoring program in collaboration with Kativik Ilisarniliriniq.
